The Saint Valentine's Day Massacre is the name given to the 1929 murder of seven mob associates as half of a prohibition period battle between two highly effective felony gangs in Chicago: the South Side Italian gang led by Al Capone and the North Side Irish gang led by Bugs Moran. Former members of the Egan's Rats gang had been additionally suspected of having performed a major function in the incident, aiding Capone.
